The Mission

It is the Mission of Bridgeway Community Church to meet people where they are and connect them with God and others. The Mission Statement articulates the purpose of Bridgeway, but a Mission Statement is more than words, it must be lived out. We plan to implement and live out this Mission in the strategy explained below.

Our Community – Shoppers, Renters, and Owners

In the housing market we find three kinds of people:  Shoppers are people who need a place to live and are still considering their options; Renters are people who live in a community but have not made a long-term investment in that community; and Owners are people who have made the investment and committed themselves to living in a specific community.

Spiritual communities are very much the same. Every church is made up of some mix of Spiritual Shoppers, Renters and Owners. BCC is committed to attracting Shoppers and turning Renters into Owners.

Shoppers - Shoppers are people who have no spiritual home. They may be unsaved and un-churched non-believers, or they may be uncommitted or de-churched believers. Whether they’re looking for hope, acceptance, or simply an answer to their spiritual questions, BCC is dedicated to attracting these seekers. By providing quality worship services, relevant sermons, special events, and well-structured home groups, BCC will strive to connect Shoppers both to the message of the gospel and to a community of committed believers who can help them grow in their faith.  Since young people are more open to the gospel and more likely to embrace change, we will specifically target young families.

Renters - Renters are people who call their church “home,” but who lack a sense of ownership. In the housing market, Renters aren’t concerned with making repairs or improving a property’s value, and they’re quick to relocate if they find what looks like a better situation. Likewise, in the church, Renters have a relationship with God but are reluctant to invest in others; they’ll leave if their own needs aren’t being met. Through our home groups, sermons that consistently reinforce ownership, and membership training classes that stress the importance of spiritual gifts, BCC will move people from Renters to Owners.

Owners - Owners have made a long-term commitment, not just to their home, but to the community in which they live. At BCC, a Renter becomes an Owner when their focus has shifted from meeting their own needs to serving Christ and others. Owners are actively involved in fulfilling the purposes of the church.
